The Theatre, located in the town hall and called Salle Molière, opened on 12 December 1937 with Gounod’s “Faust” performed by the Paris Opera National Theatre company. A special feature of the new town hall was to house this theatre which, in 1937, had a seating capacity equivalent to 1/8th of the population.
After it had been completely refurbished in 1991, Poissy Theatre became an auditorium focusing on music which provided an exceptional venue for hosting performers of international fame. This venue meets the demands of audiences owing to its acoustics, visibility, comfortable seating and attractive design.
