Poissy inhabitants can play a major role in welcoming visitors and promoting their town. They are promoters, advisers and users of the Tourist Information Office.

To enhance the status of the town through the eyes of its inhabitants, Poissy Tourist Information Office has set up the “Tourism Ambassadors’ Club”.

The concept of ambassadors or greeters comes from New York and offers tourists the opportunity of meeting a local person who can talk about and show the tourist around “his or her” town and the district he or she loves and is proud of, like a “friend” sharing his or her personal stories about the town and more besides. The visitor can get to know the town in a different way, and can soak up its atmosphere, meet its residents and understand its history by talking to a local person.

An ambassador in no way replaces professional guides and receives no payment or tips for this service.

A role as an Ambassador is open to all Poissy residents or people who love the town and wish to share their enthusiasm for their town.

Becoming a Tourism Ambassador is a way of promoting what Poissy can offer to tourists within your personal and professional environment; it can boost visits to sites, enhance the town’s image and enable local people to take ownership of, and share, Poissy’s historical assets.

Being an ambassador 

All ambassadors are volunteers who love Poissy and wish to share the town’s rich heritage with visitors. Ambassadors enable visitors to explore places that the Ambassadors know particularly well, like a friend showing them round. At the end of a tour, the visitor must be left with the feeling that he or she has not only seen Poissy but has also got to the heart of Poissy life.

An ambassador represents the image of Poissy, enhancing its assets and transmitting a positive image of his or her town on a daily basis.

An ambassador stays up to date with the region’s assets supported by the Tourist Information Office (communication and promotional media are made available to him or her).

He or she takes part in club meetings which will be organised regularly by the Tourist Information Office. He or she may propose other Poissy residents for joining this club.

These tours around the town must take place outside the traditional guided tour itineraries (reserved for professional guides).

Every ambassador must be at least 18 years of age, enthusiastic, open, sociable, available regularly and enjoy contact with people.

Speaking a foreign language is not compulsory (but is highly appreciated).

Visitors 

Visitors may be families, groups of friends, couples, people on their own, etc. wishing to explore Poissy.

The number of people in a tour may not exceed 6 people and the group must include at least one adult.
